Translation
We translate from and into Spanish, English, Portuguese, and French, covering different areas of expertise.
We do both certified and non-certified translations.
Certified translations: In a certified translation, the translator attaches a signed statement certifying that the translation is a true and complete representation of the source document. Certified translations are often required for legal documents written in a foreign language that need to be filed with a government agency, a court, or other body, or for official purposes. Examples are marriage certificates, death certificates, immigration documents, business contracts, among others.
At Smart Lingua, all certified translations are done by certified translators, namely, a professional with a degree in translation who has been certified or passed an exam by a translators’ association.
Non-certified translations: Non-certified translations are not intended for official purposes and are delivered in the same format as the source document. We are able to handle from simple Word files to PDFs and complex files including graphic design. To achieve this, our translators’ team relies on graphic designers, who provide their support when the complexity of the document format so requires. All of our translations are done by professional translators qualified in the relevant field. We place great importance on terminological precision to guarantee accuracy, the use of legally approved terms, and a consistent global image for our clients. We rely on terminology management tools and work in close cooperation with our clients to understand their culture.

Editing
and proof-reading
This service includes editing and proofreading documents for grammar, spelling, formatting, word choice, style, terminology, and consistency. We work on documents of varied complexity, format, and length, from daily emails exchanged between companies, to handbooks, reports, papers and newsletters, marketing, blog and web page contents, among others.
Audio and video transcription
We are widely experienced in transcribing audio and video from business meetings, interviews, conferences, focus groups, among others. Transcription rates vary due to language, quality and length of the audio or video material, and turnaround time.
